Guess the New Feature: Round II

Wednesday, January 12, 2011

Last week, I posted one of the new buttons from Timeline 3D and had you guess what feature it represents. I thought it was fun, and hopefully you did too, so here is round two:

Any guesses at to what this button does? I'll give you a hint: this button appears on the same panel as the Geological Time Scale button. I'll reveal the answer next week.

A geographical timeline? Kind of like iPhoto's places feature but you can move from place to place through time.
E.g. I grew up in York, moved to Reading, then Brighton and now Scotland. My timeline would go from place to place perhaps with an image and some text to describe my journey.

If it's not that, you should do it!

The previous guess is nearly identical to my guess from the last round, so I'm just going to say, "What he (designstudies2010) said!"

I guess it is a connection to a map service e.g. Google maps?

Here is another hint, this feature has more to do with the road sign in the foreground than the map in the background.

The ability to plot a timeline in terms of distance rather than time.

The ability to create a road map?

The ability to read a GPS route and its waypoints? This could be a huge progress! I'm a bicycle fan and a GPS owner and I'm dreaming this new feature....

Steve - You were the closest guess. Congratulations!

I'll send you a free BEEDOCS t-shirt if you send me an e-mail with your address and preferred size.

I revealed more details in my latest post: http://bit.ly/fjEVw8
